About Derek Tharp, Ph.D.
Derek Tharp is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Southern Maine, Lead Researcher at Kitces.com, Founder of Conscious Capital, and Head of Innovation at Income Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. In addition to writing for Kitces.com, Derek has contributed to The Wall Street Journal, and his research has been published in leading academic journals, including Financial Planning Review, Journal of Financial Planning, and Journal of Retirement.
